Dynamic community building

Developing community takes much more than a well crafted purpose.

What are the ingredients of a healthy community?

I don’t have a scientific answer just yet. But I do know that building a dynamic community is way harder than it sounds and takes a lot more work than one might think.

I know this because I’ve been doing it in small and large groups for quite a while. Sometimes those communities are in a physical space, while other times, they’ve been virtual. In either case, one can support the other, and it’s important to leverage both in-person and digital means to foster active membership that supports the larger cause.

Gifted as a shepherd, dynamic community building is one of the central themes of what I do. After all, I believe life is for relationship above everything.

Though I certainly could do a lot more work in this area, what I will say is that I find this work to be the most exhilarating for me personally. I love when people connect with other people and magic happens. Designing for serendipity takes practice and intentionality, but when it happens, wow. What fun.

In service of others

Knowing that my life is not about me, I aim for this theme of my work to help the various people I serve:

  • Foster authentic, life-giving relationships with one another

  • Express love in real, tangible ways that transform others holistically

  • Creatively collaborate to develop, launch, and accelerate ideas that have lasting power and influence in the world

  • Learn how to nurture their own communities in ways that lead to flourishing

  • And more
